Bio
Hailing from Shepparton, Matt Whitlock emerged from the Murray Bushrangers as a highly versatile key position prospect, gaining significant attention alongside his identical twin brother Jack in the lead-up to the 2024 National Draft. While his brother was viewed primarily as a forward-ruck, Matt built a reputation as an athletic swingman capable of reading the play as an intercept defender or drifting forward to impact the scoreboard. Selected by North Melbourne with pick 27, he broke into the senior side early in his debut season, playing his first game against Sydney in Round 4, 2025, and kicking his maiden goal shortly after. Despite his raw potential and aerial traits, Whitlock has largely served his apprenticeship in the VFL during his initial years at Arden Street, working to build the physical resilience required to command a permanent spot in the Kangaroos' defensive key posts.
