Bio
Recruited from Subiaco, Matthew Connell began his AFL journey with West Coast but found opportunities scarce in a star-studded lineup, managing just three games in three years. A trade to Adelaide ahead of the 1995 season proved a masterstroke, as the pacey wingman made an instant impression by winning the club’s Best and Fairest award in his debut year. Known for his running power and ability to link play through the midfield, Connell became a fixture in the Crows' side during their golden era, playing a crucial role in both the 1997 and 1998 premiership victories. Although his career wound down after the 2000 season, his contribution as a dual premiership player and club champion ensures his lasting legacy at West Lakes.
