Stats
Bio
Selected with pick 41 in the 2002 National Draft from the Gippsland Power, Matthew Ferguson was a versatile key position prospect capable of playing at either end of the ground, though he settled primarily as a defender. After making his debut in 2004, he struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side, often serving as a depth player behind established backmen such as Max Hudghton and Matt Maguire. His development was significantly derailed by a ruptured ACL sustained in the VFL late in 2006, which forced him to miss the entire 2007 season. Although he fought his way back to fitness, Ferguson could not break back into St Kilda's formidable lineup under Ross Lyon and was delisted at the end of 2008 without adding to his career tally of 12 games.
