Bio
Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick 15 in the 2022 National Draft, Matthew Jefferson arrived at Melbourne as a highly-rated key forward prospect noted for his strong overhead marking and ability to lead into space. Despite his first-round credentials, the tall attacker served a patient apprenticeship in the VFL with the Casey Demons, focusing on building the physical resilience required for the top level. His transition to senior football proved gradual, finding opportunities limited within a competitive Demons lineup and managing only sporadic appearances across his first four seasons on the list. Jefferson remains a developing key position option, continuing to fight for a permanent place inside the forward 50.
