Bio
Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies with pick 70 in the 2002 National Draft, Matthew Lokan made an immediate impact at Collingwood by playing every match in his debut year, culminating in an appearance in the 2003 Grand Final. A running half-back and wingman noted for his hard running and endurance, he provided valuable link-up play for the Magpies, though his ball use was occasionally inconsistent. Despite such a strong start to his career, Lokan found opportunities harder to come by over the next two seasons as he drifted out of the senior side. He was delisted at the conclusion of the 2005 season, subsequently returning to the SANFL where he transitioned into a long-serving player and later a senior coach.
