Stats
Bio
Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens with pick 24 in the 1994 National Draft, Matthew Manfield was a tall utility who arrived at Fitzroy during the club's tumultuous final years. Standing at 192cm, he offered versatility as a key position prospect but struggled to find continuity in a struggling side, managing just five appearances before the Lions merged with Brisbane. Unable to secure a spot on the inaugural Brisbane Lions list, Manfield re-entered the pool and was thrown a lifeline by Richmond with pick 41 in the 1996 National Draft. Despite his physical attributes, he could not command a regular spot in the Tigers' senior lineup, playing a further six games over two seasons before being delisted. He spent a final season on Collingwood's rookie list in 1999 without adding to his game tally, eventually returning to South Australia where he forged a solid SANFL career with Glenelg.
