Bio
Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens with pick 4 in the 1999 National Draft, Matthew Pavlich arrived at Fremantle and immediately established himself as a central figure for the young club. throughout his career, he faced persistent speculation regarding a potential return to his native South Australia, but he remained a loyal one-club player, eventually becoming the first Docker to reach the 300-game milestone.
Renowned for his extraordinary versatility, Pavlich is one of the few players in VFL/AFL history to earn All-Australian selection as a defender, midfielder, and forward. He possessed the aerobic capacity to run through the centre square, the size to hold down full-back, and the marking power to serve as a formidable key forward. This adaptability often saw him plug holes wherever the team structure was lacking, sacrificing personal continuity for team balance, though he spent the latter half of his career primarily as a goal-kicking spearhead.
