Bio
Recruited from Frankston YCW, Matthew Wall was a skilful wingman who worked his way up through the Richmond Thirds before breaking into the senior side. His debut in Round 1, 1980, was preceded by a dramatic buildup, as he rolled his car in a serious accident just days prior but emerged unhurt to take his place on the field. While he managed five appearances during that premiership-winning season, he was unable to cement a spot in the historic Grand Final team. A fine kick to position who could link up play through the corridor, Wall became a consistent member of the Tigers' best 22 during the mid-1980s, playing his best football as the club's fortunes began to dip. He departed Punt Road after the 1985 season to join Sandringham in the VFA, eventually retiring from elite football at a young age to pursue a career as a shipbroker.
