Bio
Recruited from Airport West, Maurice Boyse began his VFL career with Essendon but found limited opportunities to break into the senior side at Windy Hill. He crossed to North Melbourne in search of regular football and quickly established himself as a versatile half-forward and winger who could consistently hit the scoreboard. Boyse played his best football with the Kangaroos, becoming a fixture in their finals campaigns and booting two goals in the 1978 Grand Final loss to Hawthorn. His career took another turn in 1981 when he was sent to South Melbourne in a rare mid-season trade, joining the club right before its tumultuous relocation north. Although a severe skull fracture forced him to miss the Swans' inaugural season in Sydney in 1982, he successfully returned to the field the following year to conclude his playing days in the harbour city.
