Bio
Recruited from the Sandhurst Football Club in the Bendigo Football League, Maurie De Araugo arrived at South Melbourne in 1924 as a forward option. He managed a handful of games during his debut season at the Lake Oval, showing some aptitude around goal, but was unable to secure a permanent place in the side. After a four-year absence from VFL ranks, De Araugo was thrown a lifeline by St Kilda in 1928, where he added another brief chapter to his career. Operating primarily as a half-forward flanker who could rotate through the wing, he played a further four matches for the Saints before concluding his time at the elite level with a modest tally of ten senior appearances.
