Bio
Recruited from North Geelong, Max Atkin was a local product called up to bolster the Cats' depleted ranks when the club rejoined the VFL in 1944 after a two-year wartime hiatus. Joining a squad heavily reliant on district talent and available servicemen, the solidly built utility made his debut in Round 4 against Essendon but found opportunities limited in a side struggling for consistency. He played four games in his first season and added just one more in 1945, primarily filling gaps in the lineup and failing to trouble the scorers during his brief stint at the top level. Atkin eventually departed Kardinia Park as the club began to rebuild its list in the immediate post-war era, serving as one of the depth players who ensured the club could field a team during a critical period of its history.
