Bio
Recruited from Hastings-Tyabb in the Peninsula Football League, Max Carmichael arrived at Glenferrie Oval with a massive reputation as a country goal-kicking sensation, having booted a staggering 92 majors during the 1938 season. He appeared to justify the hype immediately, snagging three goals on debut for the Mayblooms in Round 4, 1940, suggesting the club had unearthed a potent new forward option. However, the excitement was short-lived; Carmichael went goalless in his second appearance and was unable to hold his spot in the senior side. He did not feature at VFL level again, eventually crossing to Brighton in the VFA for the 1941 season.
