Bio
Recruited from North Launceston in Tasmania, Max Davidson was a talented half-forward who made an immediate impact at Victoria Park in 1956. Standing 175cm, he broke into the Magpies' senior lineup in Round 5 and held his spot for the remainder of the home-and-away season, becoming a regular contributor in a powerful Collingwood side. Davidson played 16 games in his debut year, kicking seven goals and featuring in both the Semi Final and the Preliminary Final victory over Footscray. However, his VFL career ended in heartbreak when he missed selection for the Grand Final against Melbourne, which Collingwood subsequently lost. He did not play another senior game for the club, returning to his home state where he remained a respected figure in the football community until his passing in 2023.
