Bio
Born in Warrnambool, Max Hardie arrived at the Junction Oval via St Kilda District, breaking into the senior lineup as a 19-year-old during the club's difficult 1919 campaign. He was given a brief trial in the middle of the season, making his debut against Collingwood before retaining his spot for a heavy defeat to South Melbourne the following week. Unable to cement a regular position in a side that would ultimately claim the wooden spoon, Hardie's VFL career was confined to that fortnight of football before he departed the league's top flight.
