Stats
Bio
Recruited from the prolific Eaglehawk football factory in the Bendigo Football League, Max Hetherington was a solidly built key position prospect who arrived at Kardinia Park in 1957. Standing 188cm, he offered the Cats a notable physical presence capable of pinch-hitting in the ruck or holding down a key post, entering the system at a time when Geelong was sliding into a transition period following their early-decade dominance. Despite his strong country pedigree and size—which was considered significant "timber" for the era—Hetherington struggled to command a permanent spot in the senior 22, often finding himself on the fringe of selection. He managed 11 games and four goals across two seasons before his brief VFL tenure concluded at the end of 1958.
