Bio
A sought-after recruit from Ulverstone in Tasmania, Max O'Halloran attracted significant interest from multiple league clubs before committing to Footscray in 1972. His VFL career is best remembered for the unusual circumstances surrounding his departure from the Western Oval; midway through the 1974 season, he was involved in a clearance swap that saw him cross to Carlton while premiership wingman Ian Robertson went the other way. O'Halloran managed five senior games for the Blues to close out the year but could not secure a long-term place at Princes Park, eventually departing to play for Oakleigh in the VFA. While his time in the VFL was brief, he later forged a substantial legacy in Far North Queensland as a premiership-winning coach with North Cairns and a long-serving administrator for AFL Cairns.
