Bio
Recruited from the Mildura Imperials, Max Pitt was a talented long-kicking winger and flanker who enjoyed a stellar debut season that culminated in an appearance in Collingwood's heartbreaking 1966 Grand Final loss. His promising career was unfortunately derailed by a severe arm injury sustained in a post-season exhibition match against Sturt, where a botched initial setting of the bone required the arm to be re-broken, causing him to miss significant football. Unable to recapture the explosive form of his maiden year, he was surprisingly released by the Magpies in the middle of 1968 and subsequently crossed to St Kilda, where he managed a handful of games before his VFL career came to a premature end.
