Recruited from West Perth as an established WAFL star, Max Wenn arrived at Carlton in 1953 as a mature-age rover capable of drifting forward to hit the scoreboard. He made an immediate impact at Princes Park, serving as a dangerous offensive avenue during a period where the Blues struggled for consistency. While his VFL career was ultimately short-lived, concluding after just two seasons when he returned to Western Australia, Wenn established a family link to the club that was later continued by his son, Peter, who played for Carlton in the late 1960s.
