Bio
Arriving at Princes Park as a mature-age recruit from Sunshine, Max Wilson broke into the Carlton side during the manpower shortages of the Second World War. Standing just 170cm, he was utilised as a rover and midfielder to plug gaps in the lineup, making his debut at 29 years of age and playing a support role for the Blues across two seasons. Although his on-field VFL career was restricted to just nine games without a goal, Wilson secured a unique place in football history through his longevity; he maintained a lifelong connection to the club and famously became the competition's oldest living former player, surviving until the age of 103.
