Stats
Bio
Recruited from the local South Melbourne Districts side, Merv Leith was a diminutive forward and rover who emerged at the Lake Oval during the tumultuous 1943 season. Standing just 174cm, he made an immediate impact as a lively option in attack, playing 14 games and kicking 10 goals in his debut year for the Bloods. Like many contemporaries, his football journey was heavily interrupted by the Second World War, causing him to miss the entirety of the 1944 and 1945 seasons. Leith returned to the club for the 1946 campaign but managed just three more senior appearances, unable to re-establish a permanent place in the side before his VFL career concluded.
