Bio
Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers with pick 53 in the 1996 National Draft, Michael Braun established himself as a durable and loyal servant for the West Coast Eagles over a 12-year career. Arriving from Victoria, he became a fixture on the wing, renowned for his elite endurance and work rate which allowed him to cover immense ground and support the Eagles' star-studded midfield brigade of the mid-2000s. While often overshadowed by high-profile teammates, Braun's disciplined two-way running made him an integral structural component of the side, and he distinguished himself by becoming the first interstate recruit to play 200 games for the club.
Braun reached the pinnacle of his career as a key member of the 2006 premiership team, cementing his legacy at West Coast. However, the latter stages of his playing days were hampered by persistent degenerative knee issues, which restricted his output and eventually forced his retirement midway through the 2008 season. He left the game as a highly respected clubman and Life Member, having provided stability and veteran leadership during one of the most successful eras in the club's history.
