Bio
Recruited from East Fremantle, Michael Brennan was an inaugural member of the West Coast Eagles squad and became a cornerstone of the club's defence during their golden era in the early 1990s. The son of WAFL stalwart Kevin Brennan, he quickly established himself as a reliable and disciplined backman capable of shutting down dangerous opposition forwards. His unpresuming style often allowed him to fly under the radar, but his importance to the team structure was underscored by his long tenure as club vice-captain and his eventual selection in the Eagles' Team of the Decade.
Brennan's career highlights include playing crucial roles in the historic 1992 and 1994 premiership sides, cementing his status as an Eagles great. He remained a constant fixture in the senior side until his retirement in 1995, departing as a highly respected leader who helped set the cultural standards for the expansion club. His connection to West Coast continued well past his playing days when his son, Jacob, was drafted to the club under the father-son rule in 2010.
