Teams

Recruited from Montmorency in the Diamond Valley, Michael Browne was a towering utility who stood 194cm and added necessary depth to Collingwood’s key position stocks in the mid-1970s. A flexible big man capable of rotating through the ruck, drifting forward to hit the scoreboard, or plugging holes in defence, he made his debut late in the 1973 season. Despite his height and versatility, Browne found it difficult to lock down a regular spot in the senior side, often finding himself on the fringe of selection while developing in the reserves. He finished his time at Victoria Park with 12 games over three seasons, remembered as a backup tall who stepped in when the Magpies' primary big men were unavailable.
