Bio
Recruited from St Bernard's, Michael Davis was a left-footed rover and wingman who faced the unenviable task of breaking into Essendon’s emerging powerhouse lineup of the early 1980s. Despite his consistency at the lower level—highlighted by a 1983 reserves premiership and multiple internal awards for improvement and consistency—he managed just four senior appearances across four seasons at Windy Hill as Kevin Sheedy built a legendary midfield. Seeking greater opportunity, Davis transferred to the Sydney Swans for the 1984 season, but added only one further game to his tally in a Round 9 victory over Geelong before concluding his VFL career.
