Bio
Recruited from Claremont with pick 31 in the 2010 National Draft, Michael Evans arrived at Melbourne carrying a famous surname as the son of former Essendon player and AFL Commission Chairman Ron Evans. A hard-running midfielder with a natural ball-winning instinct, he made an immediate impact by gathering 29 disposals on debut against St Kilda in 2011. However, despite showing genuine promise as an industrious on-baller who could link play through the middle, his career was constantly interrupted by injury setbacks, most notably chronic back issues. Unable to build continuity during a turbulent era for the Demons, Evans was eventually forced to retire at the conclusion of the 2014 season at just 22 years of age.
