Bio
Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens with pick 61 in the 2019 National Draft, Michael Frederick arrived at Fremantle as a raw prospect known for his blistering speed. The twin brother of former Port Adelaide defender Martin Frederick, he debuted during the hub-based 2020 season and quickly carved out a niche as a high-impact half-forward capable of pushing onto the wing. While his development was briefly interrupted by a significant ankle injury in 2021, he returned to solidify his place in the side, becoming a fan favourite for his frantic defensive pressure and ability to execute skills at top speed.
Frederick’s game is built on elite running capacity and the ability to break lines, serving as a vital connection between the Dockers' midfield and deep forwards. Often tasked with using his pace to burn off opponents on the counter-attack, he developed into a reliable avenue to goal, maintaining a strike rate of better than a goal a game. Now established as a 100-game player for the club, Frederick remains a barometer for Fremantle’s forward line energy, providing the necessary spark and chase-down pressure to complement the team's key position targets.
