Bio
Recruited from the Ovens & Murray powerhouse Wodonga, Michael Garvey was a 187cm utility who initially entered the VFL via North Melbourne’s country zone. After managing just two senior appearances for the Kangaroos in 1986, he returned to local footy before being handed a second lifeline by Carlton, who selected him with pick 40 in the 1987 National Draft. Despite his solid frame and versatility, Garvey struggled to break into a formidable Blues lineup, adding just a single senior game to his tally over two seasons at Princes Park. He was subsequently picked up by Geelong in the 1990 pre-season draft without adding to his game count, eventually returning to the O&M where he cemented his status as a Wodonga club legend and dual premiership player.
