Bio
Recruited from North Heidelberg, Michael Gibson began his VFL career with Fitzroy where he managed just three senior appearances as a teenager in 1985. He found a second footballing life as a foundation member of the Brisbane Bears, joining the expansion club for their inaugural season in 1987. A 198cm ruckman, Gibson was a workmanlike tall who primarily served as a backup option to the Bears' first-choice followers, often tasked with shouldering the ruck load during the club's challenging formative years. He enjoyed his most consistent campaign in 1989, playing 19 games, but ultimately struggled to command a permanent position in the senior side and departed the national competition after the 1991 season.
