Bio
Arriving at Carlton via the rookie list from North Ballarat, Michael Jamison developed into one of the league's most reliable shutdown defenders. While he lacked the rebounding flair of some contemporaries, Jamison was a disciplined fullback whose spoil timing and superior bodywork allowed him to quell the influence of the era's dominant power forwards. He became the anchor of the Blues' defence, consistently taking the assignment on the opposition's best target and earning elevation to the club's leadership group.
Despite his vital importance to Carlton's structure, Jamison's career was frequently interrupted by injuries, particularly to his shoulders, which eventually limited his output as the club entered a rebuilding phase under Brendon Bolton. He fought through these physical setbacks to reach the 150-game milestone in 2016, retiring shortly after as a highly respected one-club player who had maximized his potential through grit and defensive application.
