Stats
Bio
A former junior basketball star who represented Australia at under-17 and under-19 levels, Michael Luxford joined Geelong as a Category B rookie having not played competitive football since his early teenage years. Standing 188cm with a powerful frame, he spent his first season learning the nuances of the code in the VFL, transitioning into a contested ball-winning midfielder and forward. He broke through for his senior debut against Essendon in 2015 and managed two appearances at the top level, but despite his elite athletic profile, he faced the difficult task of catching up on years of missed football development. Unable to cement a place in a competitive Cats lineup, Luxford was delisted at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
