Teams

Recruited from West Perth with pick 46 in the 2003 National Draft, Michael Pettigrew developed into a versatile utility for Port Adelaide, primarily serving as a third tall defender. Although he debuted during the club's historic 2004 premiership season, he cemented his standing in subsequent years, utilising his athleticism and closing speed to shut down mobile forwards. His flexibility occasionally saw him swung into the forward line to provide an aerial target, but his career was largely defined by his defensive roles during a volatile period for the club, including an appearance in the 2007 Grand Final side that fell to Geelong.

Pettigrew battled through various soft-tissue injuries and fluctuating form to reach the 100-game milestone in 2011, earning life membership at the club. However, he struggled to command a permanent spot in the best 22 as the Power entered a significant rebuilding phase under a new coaching structure. Following the 2011 season, he was delisted, ending his tenure at Alberton as a reliable clubman who provided important structural depth across eight seasons.
