Bio
The son of St Kilda Brownlow Medallist Neil Roberts, Michael Roberts arrived at Moorabbin with significant expectations but carved out his own niche as a versatile utility. Recruited from Beaumaris, he played his best football in the early 1980s, utilising his athleticism on the wing and half-forward line to earn selection for Victoria in 1981. After leaving the Saints to extend his career, he spent single seasons with Richmond and Fitzroy, but persistent ankle and knee injuries severely restricted his output and forced a premature retirement. While he finished just shy of the 100-game milestone, Roberts maintained a high profile in the game long after his playing days, transitioning from a player-model into a long-serving boundary rider and media personality.
