Bio
Recruited as a key defender with a rich family pedigree, Michael Talia is the grandson of 1954 premiership hero Harvey Stevens and the younger brother of Adelaide All-Australian Daniel Talia. Selected by the Western Bulldogs in the 2011 National Draft, he showed promise as a spoiler and intercept mark across four seasons at the Whitten Oval without fully cementing a senior spot. His departure from the Bulldogs was acrimonious, triggered by allegations that he shared game-sensitive information with his brother prior to the club's 2015 Elimination Final loss. While officially cleared by an AFL investigation due to insufficient evidence, he was immediately traded to Sydney, where his career ultimately unravelled; a severe foot injury sustained in his club debut and a subsequent off-field indiscretion resulted in his delisting at the conclusion of the 2017 season.
