Bio
Drafted by Fremantle with pick 53 in the 2008 National Draft from Swan Districts, Michael Walters overcame significant early hurdles to become one of the Dockers' most decorated players. His career faced a crossroads in 2012 when he was sent back to the WAFL to improve his fitness and professional standards, a pivotal moment that ultimately transformed him into an elite small forward. Known for his sublime left foot, high marking ability, and creativity, Walters evolved from a pure goal-sneak into a genuine midfield rotation option, earning All-Australian selection in 2019.
A five-time leading goalkicker for the club, Walters has provided consistent attacking flair and match-winning ability over more than a decade at the top level. While his role has shifted closer to goal in his latter years, his experience and leadership remain vital for Fremantle's forward structure. Now a Life Member of the club, "Sonny" stands as a modern Dockers great who turned a precarious start into a standout one-club career.
