Stats
Bio
Recruited from Camberwell Grammar, Michael Zemski was a talented small utility who faced the formidable task of breaking into a star-studded Hawthorn lineup during the early 1970s. Standing at 177cm, he managed eight senior appearances across two seasons at Glenferrie Oval, demonstrating a capability to win his own ball and hit the scoreboard despite the lack of continuity at the top level. With opportunities for regular senior football blocked by a midfield brigade that included the likes of Leigh Matthews and Michael Tuck, Zemski departed the VFL to carve out a successful career in the VFA with Preston and Prahran. He later became a significant figure in the Jewish sporting community, representing Australia at the Maccabiah Games and returning to the amateur ranks as a player-coach for AJAX.
