Recruited from Prahran, Mick Ennis holds a significant place in Hawthorn history as a member of the club's inaugural VFL side in 1925. A potent full-forward, he immediately established himself as the focal point of the Mayblooms' attack, booting three goals in the club's debut match against Richmond. Despite playing in a side that struggled to adapt to the higher standard of competition, Ennis finished the season as Hawthorn's leading goalkicker with 32 majors. His influence waned over the subsequent two seasons as the club sought to bolster its playing list, eventually leading to his departure after 19 appearances, yet he remains notable for spearheading the attack during the club's formative years in the league.
