Stats
Bio
Recruited from the North Melbourne Colts, Mick Evans was a diminutive but prolific rover who burst onto the VFL scene with a brief but spectacular run of form in the late 1960s. Standing just 173cm, he compensated for his lack of height with high-volume ball-winning ability and a sharp eye for goal, playing primarily as a resting forward and on-baller. His career highlight came in just his third senior game against Fitzroy in 1967, where he produced a dominant individual performance comprising 31 kicks and six goals. Despite this electrifying start and a knack for finding the football—evidenced by a wasteful 1.7 return against Geelong later that same year—Evans was unable to cement a long-term position at Arden Street. After just two seasons and 14 games, he departed the VFL to continue his football journey with Portland in the Western Border Football League.
