Bio
Recruited from Bulleen-Templestowe in the amateur ranks, Gilmore was a mid-sized utility who earned a fleeting opportunity with Fitzroy during the 1980 season. He broke into Bill Stephen's senior side for a two-week stint early in the year, debuting against Hawthorn and booting his solitary career goal the following week against Melbourne. Unable to secure a permanent spot in a lineup featuring established stars like Garry Wilson and Bernie Quinlan, Gilmore's VFL career was restricted to those two appearances before he eventually returned to suburban football.
