Bio
Recruited from Yarrawonga via a stint with VFA club Coburg, Mick McFarlane entered the VFL as a mature-age rookie with Essendon in 1936. He initially displayed potential as a forward option at Windy Hill, booting 15 goals in his first 11 games, but struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side. Seeking greater opportunity, McFarlane transferred to North Melbourne during the 1937 season, where he carved out a more stable niche at Arden Street. Transitioning from a goal-kicker to a serviceable utility role, he became a consistent contributor for the Shinboners, playing 43 games over four seasons before retiring in 1940.
