Bio
Recruited from Noble Park in Melbourne's south-east, Mick Plant was a lively rover who earned a brief opportunity with South Melbourne late in the 1972 season. Handed his debut as a 19-year-old in Round 16, he held his place for the final month of the year, booting a solitary goal and showing glimpses of potential as a small forward and midfielder. Despite this promising start, his time at the elite level was fleeting, and he did not add to his tally beyond that debut season. Plant eventually returned to his home club of Noble Park, where he forged a formidable reputation in the suburban leagues, becoming a decorated club legend and a league Best and Fairest winner in the South East Suburban competition.
