Bio
Recruited from Wodonga in the Ovens & Murray Football League, Mike Andrews was a reliable contributor for Fitzroy during a challenging era for the club in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Standing 183cm, he was a strong-bodied utility who primarily featured in defensive roles, managing just 13 goals across his 80-game VFL career. While he was a solid servant at the top level, his legacy is perhaps strongest in country football; after departing the Lions in 1972, he returned to the Ovens & Murray as captain-coach of Myrtleford. He cemented his standing as a regional great by winning the league's prestigious Morris Medal in 1976, capping off a distinguished career on both the metropolitan and country stages.
