Stats
Bio
Recruited from Kew in the VAFA, Mike Hammond was a serviceable half-forward and wingman who arrived at Richmond during a transitional period for the club. He demonstrated early promise by managing 12 games in each of his first two seasons, offering versatility and rotation through the flanks under Len Smith. However, Hammond found it difficult to cement a permanent spot in the senior side following the arrival of Tom Hafey in 1966, featuring just seven times that year as the Tigers began reshaping their list for what would become a premiership dynasty. He departed Punt Road at the conclusion of the 1966 season, narrowly missing out on the club's drought-breaking flag triumph the following year.
