Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Doveton Football Club in the Mornington Peninsula league, Mike Lanyon was a lively forward who broke into the St Kilda lineup during the 1972 season. Standing 178cm, he made his senior debut in a Round 3 victory over Footscray at Moorabbin, joining a Saints squad that was pushing towards a finals berth. Lanyon showed he could contribute on the scoreboard, booting four goals across his six senior appearances, but he found it difficult to cement a permanent spot in a competitive side that eventually finished fourth on the ladder. His VFL career was confined to that single winter, leaving him as a notable but brief representative of the south-eastern suburban football pathway at the elite level.
