Bio
Recruited from VFA powerhouse North Melbourne where he was already a dual premiership player, Mike "Mad Mick" Londerigan arrived at Essendon with a reputation for uncompromising physicality. Standing just 163cm, he was a stocky and aggressive forward who doubled as a prolific ball-winner, though his rough style of play frequently attracted criticism from contemporary newspapers. He quickly established himself in the senior side, but his VFL career is often remembered for a heartbreaking near-miss; he was selected for the 1908 Grand Final but withdrew on the eve of the match following the sudden death of his father. Londerigan played one further season for the club before being dropped and eventually cleared to Footscray in the VFA.
