Bio
Recruited from St Albans, Mike Pokrovsky was a local western suburbs defender who battled to translate his dominance at the lower level into a sustained VFL career. Operating primarily as a back pocket, he managed just three senior appearances for Footscray across three seasons, finding himself stuck behind established defenders in the pecking order. Despite the lack of senior continuity, his talent was undeniable in the seconds, where he capped off his tenure at the Western Oval by winning the 1972 Gardiner Medal as the VFL Reserves Best and Fairest. Unable to parlay that individual success into a regular senior berth, he left the club at the end of that season to join Sunshine.
