Bio
Recruited from the Western Jets with pick 42 in the 2008 National Draft, Mitch Banner was an industrious midfielder and half-forward known for his ability to accumulate possessions and hit the scoreboard. While he proved to be a dominant force at SANFL level for the Port Adelaide Magpies, he found it difficult to translate that prolific form into a permanent role in the senior side, often hovering on the fringe of the best 22 during a lean era for the Power. He showed flashes of his potential at the top level, most notably booting three goals in a Showdown victory over Adelaide in 2011, but was unable to secure a long-term position as the club looked to rebuild. Banner was delisted at the conclusion of the 2012 season, subsequently carving out a successful career in the WAFL and VFL.
