Bio
Drafted as a mature-age recruit from Footscray’s VFL program, Mitch Hannan made an immediate impact at Melbourne as a mercurial forward capable of playing taller than his height due to his impressive vertical leap. He became a cult hero among Demons fans for his clinching goal in the 2018 Elimination Final, where he outran Geelong defenders to seal the club’s first finals win in over a decade. Seeking a return to familiar surroundings, Hannan was traded to the Western Bulldogs ahead of the 2021 season, where he was often utilised as a high-pressure defensive forward and featured in the Grand Final loss to his former side later that year. Despite his athletic gifts, persistent injury setbacks limited his continuity at the top level, eventually leading to his delisting at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
