Bio
Selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2006 National Draft, Mitchell Thorp arrived at Hawthorn as a highly touted key forward prospect expected to bolster the club's attacking structure. His time at the elite level was unfortunately defined by persistent hip and groin injuries, which prevented him from building the necessary fitness base to compete consistently. Often cited in historical analysis for being the selection immediately preceding Geelong captain Joel Selwood, Thorp struggled to break into a formidable Hawks lineup that would go on to win the premiership in 2008. After managing just two senior appearances across three frustrating seasons, he was delisted at the end of 2009 and returned to state league football, where he later found success as a player and coach in the SANFL and TSL.
