Bio
Recruited from Brunswick in the VFA, Morrie Ewans joined Carlton in 1919 as the league sought to rebuild its playing lists following the conclusion of the Great War. A solid defender standing 180cm, he made his debut in the opening round of the season and served as a reliable option in the Blues' backline during a transitional period for the club. Ewans was a traditional defensive stopper who prioritised nullifying his opponent over attacking flair, a style reflected in his goalless career tally. He played 18 matches across three seasons at Princes Park before eventually returning to Brunswick, where he enjoyed a sustained career in the Association throughout the 1920s.
