Bio
Recruited from Poowong in the Gippsland region, Mowbray Weir was a country footballer who joined North Melbourne during a challenging period for the club in the early 1930s. He made his senior debut in Round 1, 1930, against Geelong, forming part of a new wave of talent brought to Arden Street to help lift the struggling Shinboners off the bottom of the ladder. A handy forward option who could also rotate through the field, Weir managed to boot 10 goals in his 19 appearances, a solid contribution in a side that often found scoring difficult. His VFL career was brief, concluding after just two seasons, but he left a legacy of service beyond the football field, later joining the RAAF and serving as a Flying Officer during World War II.
